May 11th -17th was “Food Allergy Awareness Week”.  This is when the public is supposed to become educated about food allergies and the concerns about them.  I don’t know about you, but I didn’t see anything telling me about “food allergies” anywhere in the papers this year or on TV.

Here are some alarming statistics about food allergies:

-  Each week, approximately 2 to 3 Americans will suddenly lose their lives due to food allergies.

-  Approximately 6 to 8 percent of children under age 4 have a food allergy.
